What’s the likelihood of a Microsoft Yahoo Merger?
If you ask John C. Dvorak, respected columnist who has written for such lofty publications as Forbes Magazine and currently writes for Dow-Jones’ Marketwach and PC Magazine’s Inside Track, a Microsoft-Yahoo merger is never going to happen. Dvorak writes in his piece “JOHN DVORAK’S SECOND OPINION: Microsoft and Yahoo deal will never consummate - Commentary: It’s a bad idea, plus EU regulators will have a field day” that anyone who thinks this merger will happen is crazy.
Dvorak writes: I admit that over the past year, despite warnings and rumors, I said that Microsoft (MSFT) would not make the mistake of buying and attempting to merge with Yahoo. It would be an impossible pill to swallow, a corporate culture marriage-nightmare, and an admission by both companies to ultimate defeat at the hands of Google (GOOG)
Desperate times call for desperate measures as they say. Microsoft did make an offer to buyout Yahoo; but will Microsoft actually acquire Yahoo? Dvorak predicts that the merger will not happen. Read his piece to find out why he thinks the Microsoft Corp.-Yahoo Inc deal will never get past the European Union regulators.
